Ida Lupino

By Jessica Makinson

“I’m mad, they say. I’m temperamental

and dizzy and disagreeable.

Ida Lupino Well, let them talk. I can take it. ” — Ida Lupino

Ida Lupino (1918 –1995) was an English-American film actress turned director, and a pioneer among women filmmakers. She became the first actress to produce, direct and write her own films and was the second woman to be inducted into the Director’s Guild of America. Ida was the only woman ever to direct an episode of “The Twilight Zone,” and the only Twilight Zone director to star in an episode. Ida was also a complete fox. She even had her own paper dolls. Ida pictured here doing botanicals. Do it like Ida!
