While some spend the summer trolling the beach for the perfect wave, others search for the perfect song. After all, what’s summer without a soundtrack? Come solstice, I embarked upon this quest with a heart full of love and a head full of dreams. A self-professed music pirate (in the most legal sense of the word), I sailed the Internet seas on the prowl for sounds that could usher me through the haze of hot days. After scourging the web, seeking plunder for what seemed like ages, I was ready to hang up my boots in defeat when a haunting beat drifted to my ears on the sea air. I steered my ship toward the rocks, knowing it for a sirens’ song, yet unable to pull myself away. Instead of a jarring impact, the smooth sounds of Shoos Off led me away toward aural landscapes unknown. Drawn by nakedly honest vocals and simple yet heart wrenching instrumentation, I knew I had found my summer treasure. Their latest EP, “Most Times,” is out now. Frame your summer.
