I wake up from a dream, sweating. I'm trapped at my parent's house in Brentwood.

They're out of town. Indefinitely. I can't have visitors. I can't touch anything.

I change the TV. I change outfits. Pick up a book. Repeat.

Waiting for someone. I keep forgetting, then remembering. Then forget.

A violet sunshine fills the house. I can hear birds chirping outside. The hour is ending.

“Bringing awareness and, ultimately, justice to

— Permaid the oceanic genocide that is SeaWorld.” — Permaid

Permaid
Adopted by parents who found her washed up on Malibu beach, Permaid is an entity of her own and a performance art piece conceived by photographer Aeschleah DeMartino and fashion designer Nicolette Mishkan. Just like any woman in Los Angeles, Permaid runs small errands at CVS, sits for hours at the DMV, and goes to the club when she feels like it.

The Pacific Ocean, Brentwood.

Who influenced you growing up and who influences you today?

Ursula, Marilyn Manson, David Lynch – in that order.

Wet and wild. Slippery when wet.

How and when did you decide that this is what you were going to do?

One day I was at the beach, and everything just clicked.

What’s your story of getting started as an artist?

I’ve always created things, so my life naturally revolves around art. To me, life is art.

How does it feel to have accomplished this body of work? What was the process like?

This series is based on a recurring dream of mine. I usually write them down, so it was fun to make this one visual and bring it to life.

“Story of O,” “Under The Skin,” 18+.

Bringing awareness and, ultimately, justice to the oceanic genocide that is SeaWorld. Also, to put an end to ocean pollution and all the harm that it causes to wildlife.

How do you feel about the rising creative scene in LA?

Inspired and lucky to call this city home. The weather in LA makes you realize how much of a shit world NY is.
