What’s your story of getting started as an actor?
I’ve always loved the performing arts. I took dance and music classes and enrolled in the local summer theater camp growing up. I did the school plays in high school and decided, against some discouragement, to pursue acting. After graduating from UCLA’s theater school, I went on an audition and a casting director noticed that I didn’t have an agent. She offered to set me up with one, and when I met with the agent, she told me that if I booked the role she would definitely sign me. Lucky for me, I got the part!
What do you most like about your line of work?
For me, acting is cathartic. You really learn a lot about yourself and your emotions, as well as how to communicate openly and effectively with others. It also is a vessel for important stories to be told and can bring awareness to a lot of issues.
What inspires you?
Nature, art, good books.
How would you describe your style?
It’s chameleonic. I’m very drawn to high fashion.
Do you recall your first favorite T-shirt?
I had a Snoopy T-shirt I remember wearing a lot. I always thought it was so cool that he got to live out his fantasies, especially flying. He’s selfish but very loyal, and complicated characters are always the most interesting.
What’s next for you?
I’m a regular on an upcoming Shonda Rhimes show Still Star-Crossed airing May 29th on ABC. It picks up where the play Romeo & Juliet left off. I play Princess Isabella, Prince Escalus’ strong-willed sister.
